Sponsorship Information

Kiwanis Club of Kishwaukee-DeKalb invites you to sponsor our annual and major fundraiser Biking with Beanzie, a charity bicycle ride held each year in mid-July.  Our 27th annual ride will be held this year on July 12.

We use the funds we raise for two major purposes.  One is to support Kishwaukee Bike Pathway, parks and green space projects; the other is to support various local organizations in DeKalb County and for our scholarships programs.

Construction of Bicycle Paths

In 2018 a bicyclist was struck by an automobile and killed when he was on his way to work on Fairview Drive in DeKalb.  Kishwaukee Kiwanis provided $19,500 in matching funds for a federal grant to construct a bike path along Fairview Drive, where this accident occurred.  Phase 1 of this pathway extension was completed in 2021, with Phase 2 due to be completed this summer. This donation has depleted most of the reserve we had built up for this purpose over the past decade and we are now working on building the reserve back up for future extensions, park upgrades and preservation of greenspaces.

Support for Local Charities

Funds from Biking with Beanzie are also used to support a number of local charitable organizations, with special focus on those that serve children and scholarships.  In recent years we have supported the following local charities, among others:

Safe Passage
Hope Haven
Family Service Agency
4H Foundation
Salvation Army
Egyptian Theatre
Barb Food Mart
DeKalb Public Library
Children’s Learning Center
Voluntary Action Center
Barb City Manor
DeKalb County Community Gardens
Opportunity House
DeKalb County Community Foundation
DeKalb High School Scholarships
Barry Haber Scholarship (DCCF)

Thank you for helping us serve our community.
